Care Guide Polyamide

POLYAMIDE

POLYAMIDE

'POLYAMIDE FIBRES ARE LONG-LASTING, WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE. DUE TO THESE PROPERTIES THEY ARE OFTEN USED IN BLENDS. LEARN HOW TO CARE FOR THEM.'

Polyamide materials are synthetic fibres, obtained chemically. They are also known under the name Nylon. Originally this fabric was used to make parachutes and later became a popular material for clothing. Synthetic fibres shed microplastics during washing. Therefore, we recommend to use a GuppyFriend washbag to prevent this.

CARE

  • As always, check the care instructions to see if specific handling is needed due to colour, print and/or construction.

  • Machine washing polyamide is usually safe. We recommend washing garments no higher than 40° Celsius and with bleach-free detergent. Washing at 30°Celsius is more eco-friendly and in most cases enough to clean garments with a modern washing machine.

  • Always allow your polyamide garments to air dry as drying this fabric with heat runs the risk of shrinking it.

  • To remove wrinkles from your garment, turn it inside out and use an iron. While ironing fabrics made of 100% polyamide use a cooler iron setting and polyamide blends a medium setting.
